SOA Youth Science Fund supported a research project “Argo data real-time / relay mode research”, conducted by engineer Liu Zenghong (SIO).

•  November 11-14, 2003

The first Argo Workshop was held in Tokyo, Japan. Prof. Xu Jianping and Xu Dongfeng from SIO, Pan Aijun (OUC), Zhu Jiang and Li Wei (LASG), Zhang Yijun and Xue Huifen (NMDIS), and Yin Yonghong and Niu Tao (CAMS) attended the workshop.

•  July-September 2003

Three Argo floats of China Project were deployed in the Northwestern pacific (22º52.56 ' N, 127º32.06 ' E; 23º13.36 ' N, 128º59.98 ' E; 22º32.56 ' N, 130º01.11 ' E), undertook by Mr. Sun Chaohui (SIO).

•  March 3-6, 2003

The 5 th International Argo Science Team meeting (Word version) was held in Hangzhou, China, supported and hosted by SOA and conducted by Second institute of Oceanography. There were 54 members joining the meeting from 11 countries. China had 12 representatives in the meeting.

•  January 2003

China MOST supported another key research project “Argo Floats Observing the Pacific-Indian Warm Pool”, which was conducted by Academician Cao Jiping and Prof. Yu Weidong both from the First Institute of Oceanography, and Prof. Xu Jianping of the Second Institute of Oceanography.
