• November 1 to 3, 2006
The 7th Argo Data Management Meeting was held at National Marine Data and Information Service (NMDIS) of State Oceanic Administration of China, which located in Tianjin. This is the second time for China to hold Argo related meetings. Assistant researcher Liu Zenghong, Master Students Sun Chaohui and Ning Pengfei of the Second Institute Of Oceanography (SOA) attended the meeting.
• October 4 to 7, 2006
The 2nd Argo Delayed-Mode Quality Control Workshop (DMQC-2) was held in Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution from October 4 to 7, 2006. At the invitation of the Co-chair Argo Steering Team, Professor Dean Roemmich, assistant researcher Liu Zenghong of the Second Institute Of Oceanography (SOA) attended the meeting. There were 21 representatives from 8 countries participated the workshop.
At the invitation of senior researcher Xu Jianping, Dr.Yu Zuojun from International Pacific Research Center (IPRC) of Hawaii University in U.S.A, visited the Second Institute of Oceanography, State Oceanic Administration, and made an academic seminar. She discussed some scientific issues with the group members of China Argo Real-Time Data Center, and kindly instruct some young scientists of our institute.
At the invitation of senior researcher Xu Jianping, Professor Chen Changsheng from College of Oceanography in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in U.S.A, visited the Second Institute of Oceanography, State Oceanic Administration, and made an academic seminar. He discussed with the scientific researchers of the Chinese Argo real-time data center on some scientific issues. And also gave some precious suggestions for the data center's construction.
The first Argo Science workshop of China hosted by State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics and Second Institute of Oceanography, State Oceanic Administration was held in Hangzhou from June 14 to 18. The 77 scientists and researchers from more than 26 institutions and organizations including 7 academicians presented this meeting.
• May 18, 2006
Academician Wu Guoxiong, Director Wang Bin and the other experts from the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Chinese Academy of Science visited the China Argo Real-time data center. Assistant researcher Liu Zenghong reported to the visitors with the title “The process of Argo project ” and donated Argo data CDs to them.

Directors and experts from Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC, State Oceanic Administration who presented the feasibility meeting of the State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics visited the China Argo Real-time Data Center. Assistant researcher Liu Zenghong reported with the title “The Ocean Argo observations” and donated Argo Data CDs to them.

• May 16, 2006
1 APEX float was successfully deployed in the Northwestern Pacific (19.473ºN,129.433ºE) from RV "DaYang #1". It is the 30th Argo float deployed by the China Argo project since it has been founded in 2002. The other 5 floats are scheduled to be launched near the experiment region of the cruise.

Assistant researcher Liu Zenghong reported to the teachers and students of Hehai University with the title “The Ocean Argo observations”. He also presented the Argo study materials to them. These visitors were interested in the Global Argo program.
• May 8, 2006
Six APEX Argo floats, which were bought from Unite State by the program of “Argo observation Study in the Pacific-Indian warm pool” supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, have been transported to QingDao. These floats will be deployed in the Pacific Warm Pool. It is the sixth group of floats to be deployed in the Pacific by China Argo programs.
• April 1 to 6, 2006
Dr. Huaimin Zhang, who was invited by Prof. Su Jilan, has visited our institute. Dr. Zhang has visited the China real time Argo data center and discussed the management, data type and data sharing of US national climate data center with the members of our center.
• March 14 to 18, 2006
Professors Xu Jianping, Xu Dongfeng, and assistant researcher Liu Zenghong were invited to attend the second international Argo science meeting in Venice, Italy. The meeting is also a part of “the meeting of advances in Rada and Altimetry in recent fifteen years”. More than 300 attendances, which came from 30 countries and regimes, attended the meeting. Eight mainland scientists from the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences, Ocean University of China, National Data Center of Ocean Information and the Second Institute of Oceanography has attended the meeting and submitted 5 reports in the meeting.

Six APEX Argo floats with new type of lithium batteries have been transported to the second Institute of Oceanography. The technicians of China real-time Argo data center has detected and checked these floats in laboratory. These floats were bought from Unite States by the program of “Argo observation Study in the Pacific-Indian warm pool” supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology. Until now, China has deployed 29 Argo floats in the western Pacific and Eastern Indian Oceans.
