Abstract: Argo profiling float is the main equipment in the global ocean real-time observing system named Argo project. Since the project launched in 2001, there have more than 3000 Argo floats been deployed by 22 countries all over the world oceans. What’s the status now of these floats operation is the concerned thing, because it dose not only relate to the float’s performance, but also relate to the float’s data reliability; and further more it also relate to the time when can the project reach it’s designed object. This paper will discuss these questions, and hope to help people to well understand the development of the Argo system construction and the operation status in the global oceans.
