Deployment Cruise-10
China Argo floats deployment cruises :
From June 28 to July 14, 2009, Miss Wu Xiaofen, MD student at China Argo Real-time Data Center got onboard of R/V Xiangyanghong 2 and deployed successfully 5 APEX Argo profiling floats in the Northwestern Pacific Ocean. These floats are all of new APF9A type and imported by the project “Study of the upper ocean structure variation and estimation based on global real-time ocean observation program(Argo)” of the State Development Plan for Key Basic Research. So far China Argo has deployed 66 floats and 36 of them are active.

Main results of the cruise:
1. Deployed successfully 5 APEX Argo floats, the profiling depth is 0-2000m and the operation cycle is 10days. About 500 profiles of temperature, salinity and pressure will be collected in their life (3 -4 years).
2. CTD measurements of 0 – 2500m were taken at 5 stations for comparison.
3. 72 water samples at 100m, 200m, 300m, 500m, 800m, 1000m, 1500m, 2000m (2 at a depth) were collected at 5 stations.
4. 5 groups of salinity data ( altogether 36) were measured with AUTOSAL 8400B high precision salinometer in the laboratory, which were compared with the CTD data and Argo data.
