At the time when a number of projects related to China Argo approved earlier by the Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST) and the National Natural Science Foundation such as "New Generation of Array for Real-Time Geostrophic Oceanography (Argo) – Experiment of Ocean Observation Array of China","Pre-study on the Pacific-Indian Ocean Warm Pools and Their Circulation System and Air-Sea Interaction", "Study on the Pacific-Indian Ocean Warm Pools With Argo Floats Observatory Data", "Study on the Pacific-Indian Ocean Warm Pools and Air-Sea Interaction", "Assimilation Technology of Argo Data and its Application in Short-term Climate Prediction", have or are going to be accomplished and the proposal suggested by relevant state agencies and specialists to establish a special project for the long-term implementation of China Argo has not been approved while the International Argo consisting 3000 floats is going to be finished in the first half of 2007, a difficult question if the program can continuously get support from relevant state agencies once puzzled the young and fragile team of China Argo.

        Fortunately the leaders from different departments of MOST and the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) showed great attention on the progress of the program and indicated that before the special project of China Argo is set up multi channel ways will be adopted to solve the difficulties faced by the program, and that it will in no way be allowed to give up halfway. The Department of Science and Technology, SOA has already set up a project within the framework of scientific research for public-good to support the deployment of floats in the West Pacific and the application study of Argo data. The project of the Collection, Quality Control and the Building of Shared Platform of Argo Profile Dada of the Ocean has been selected by COMRA as one of its first projects for the Tenth Five-Years Plan. The Department of Basic Research, MOST decided to give special support for China Argo in the framework of basic research of science and technology. In the key areas to be supported in 2007 for the Development Plan of Key Basic Science and Technology Research (including Major Program of Scientific Research) of the State released by MOST, it clarified that the scientific research based on Argo bill be supported as the focal point.
