Announcement of the Third International Argo Science Workshop (ASW-3)

The Third International Argo Science Workshop (ASW-3) will be held in January 25 – 27, 2009 at the conference center of Zhejiang Hotel, Hangzhou, China. The workshop is co-sponsored by the International Argo Steering Team and PICES and hosted by the Second Institute of Oceanography and the State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics, the State Oceanic Administration of the P. R. China.
The main topics of the workshop is to summarize and exchange the achievements of the Argo program since its implementation about ten years ago, with emphasis on the results and experiences of utilization of Argo data in oceanographic and climatological research and operational application. The objective of the workshop is to promote a wider utilization of Argo data so as to better serve the social progress and economic development. The future of Argo will also be discussed and planned.
During the workshop an exhibition of Argo related equipment and instruments will be held.
Talks and posters from domestic experts and scholars engaged in the study of Argo data utility are welcome to the workshop. For limiting the scale of the workshop, the number of the domestic deputies has been agreed upon with the Science Program Committee (SPC) of the workshop, that is 50. Those who intend to participate in the workshop are advised to make registration as soon as possible to SPC through asw3@ucsd.edu. Deadline for abstract submission is December 19, 2008.
Deadline for registration is January 23, 2009.
