In October 2016, the project of purchasing large-scale central scientific instruments and equipments from 2017 to 2019 declared by the State Key Laboratory of Satellite Marine Environmental Dynamics got through an expert review and intermediary audit, in which China Argo Real-Time Data Center is responsible for declaring "Automatic profiling floats real-time ocean observation system "sub-project, receiving 12 million yuan of funding for the acquisition of 45 automatic profiling floats (including 15 domestic BEIDOU profiling floats, 15 imported Iridium satellite floats, 10 biological profiling floats and 5 deep-sea profiling floats).
China Argo project is expected to consolidate China s position and role in Global Argo through the purchase and deployment of the floats and will play its due role in the newly launched "BGC-Argo" and "Deep-Argo" projects.
