At the end of March 2017, Doctor Xing Xiaogang , who comes from the State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics (SOED) , proposed a program to the Open Fund Projects in QNLM (Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology, http://www.qnlm.ac/en/index) . Now the program has been approved for 3 years (April 2017 - March 2020).
The program, named “quality control, system integration and scientific application of the BGC-Argo profile data”, is aimed to study and develop data quality control methods for six kinds of sensors which are usually equipped on the current BGC-Argo floats, including sensor for dissolved oxygen, nitrate, backward scattering, irradiance, chlorophyll and yellow substance. The program would also improve and perfect the existing quality control procedures. There are three key technical problems, hidden current calibration, non-photochemical quenching effects of chlorophyll fluorescence, temperature effects of yellow substance fluorescent. Moreover, the program would also study the seasonal variations of each BGC parameter through the oncoming BGC-Argo network constructed by SOED in the Northwestern Pacific Subtropical circulation zone.
