Under the great attention and support of the Department of Science and Technology, SOA, the project “Study on the Observation and Application of Argo Profiling Floats in the Southwestern Pacific Ocean” which Professor Xu Jianping from the state key laboratory of the Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics, the Second Institute of Oceanography, SOA (SOED) is in charge of and is participated in by the National Marine Environmental Forecast Center and the Forecast Center of the South China Sea, SOA got financial support from the special scientific research project for public good of SOA for 2007.  The project will import 10 novel Argo floats to replenish the China Argo Ocean Observing Array and carry out studies on the application of Argo data.  Using data from Argo floats, TAO and satellite observation and the data fusion technology, the temporal-spatial distribution of the upper layer structure of the Pacific and the rules of evolution will be analyzed so as to get to know the thermal and dynamic process of the air-sea interaction of the Northwestern Pacific Ocean, and the study on the test experimental use of Argo data in the marine operational forecast will be carried out so as to contribute to raise the level of marine operational estimation and prediction of our country.
