At 7 o clock PM, Jan. 17th, 2018, a HM2000 profiling float which uses BEIDOU satellite transmitting system made by the 710 Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation was deployed from the R/V "KEXUE". This is the 400th profiling float deployed by China Argo project since 2002. It is also the 30th China make profiling float deployed by China Argo which use Beidou satellite transmitting system. All these 400 floats are mainly distributed in the north-western Pacific, northwest of the Indian Ocean and the south China sea. China maintains an Argo ocean observation network consisting of more than 100 active floats. The number of active floats at sea even reached 204. China has become an important member of the international Argo project.
China Argo Real-time Data Center is responsible for all these floats data s receiving, processing and distribution. All these floats data are share and exchange through GTS and the internet with the member countries of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the members of the international Argo program. People can visit the website of China Argo Real-time Data Center to download the data. For 16 years, the China Argo real-time data center has collected nearly 1.8 million 0-2000 meters water depth range of temperature, salinity profile data which observing by around 15,000 floats deployed by nearly 30 member countries of Argo project. The construction and maintenance of China s Argo ocean observation network has been supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance and State Oceanic Administration.
